The statements followed the revelation in The Times that the former Mayor had described a senior officer at North Kensington Fire Station as having a face ‘as black as the ace of spades’.
In their statements, Holdsworth and Lindsay repeatedly emphasised the councillor’s “remorse” over the incident and his attendance at “anti-racist training.”
Lindsay’s statement begins with the curious line “although this happened in 2022” – characteristic of the mealymouthed tone of both statements.
Lindsay also states, “The council has changed since 2017.”
The statements were sent to Urban Dandy by a council insider. Read them for yourself. RBKC’s new CEO setting out her approach to racism, and a recent mayor who confirmed he will stay on as a councillor taking public money until 2026…”change”?
