The Coward’s Prayer

I cannot stop anything

For everything is written

Set in tablets of stone

Yet the veil is slowly lifting

Our inter-dimensional rulers

Seek our divine spark

Even though their knowledge is great

They cannot set eternity into the hearts of humankind…

It is not the chaos I dread

Nor the never-ending wars

But it’s the constant peace

That I fear the most

A calm ordered brave new world

With its apathetic demeanour

Pleasure seeking numbness…

I need angst, a little anger

To write, create, to bleed

Craving loneliness, solitude to reflect

Sleep still eludes me

I won’t exchange emotional distress

For my fake freedom

Always fighting for those I truly love

Never to pray the coward’s prayer…

Waiting for the Queen of Kush

To lead me where the stars sleep

We shall walk the rings of Saturn

Visit Jupiter’s moons

Enter the Sun’s core

Tightly holding hands

As we are transformed into light…

Exploring the storehouses

That hold the snow

Finding the tunnels

That capture the wind

Dancing together forever

Beyond our dreams…

The Queen of Kush

My true love for eternity

It’s because of you

You’re the only reason

I can never utter

The coward’s prayer…
